So what makes a great Margarita?  There are several factors to consider when deciding on which margarita recipe to use.  You will need to think about which types of tequila, which types of liqueurs, what ratios to mix them in and whether or not to use a margarita mix or fresh ingredients.

Liqueur ratios for margarita recipes

• 2:1:1 = (50% tequila, 25% Triple Sec, 25% fresh lime or lemon juice)
• 3:2:1 = (50% tequila, 33% Triple Sec, 17% fresh lime or lemon juice)
• 3:1:1 = (60% tequila, 20% Triple Sec, 20% fresh lime or lemon juice)
• 1:1:1 = (33% tequila, 33% Triple Sec, 33% fresh lime or lemon juice)

Whats not to like about a great tropical drink, if its not going to be a margarita then at least make sure its got premium rum!  TYhis tropical drink recipe is easy and great.

1 ounce chocolate schnapps

3/4 ounce amaretto

1/2 ounce gold rum

1 ounce cream

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake and pour in to glass.  Like most tropical drinks, premium liqueurs make the difference.

Looking for a great margarita but dont want all the carbs?  Here is a great low carb margarita recipe – this calls for the following:

• 1 tub Crystal Light lemon-lime drink mix
• 2 cups water
• Juice of one lime
• 8 oz. tequila
• 6 oz. Grand Marnier
• 4 oz. Presidente Mexican Brandy
• Ice

To make this margarita, place all ingredients in to a margarita machine or frozen drink machineshaker and shake, strain and pour in to a salted margarita glass.
